Organ Donation Week 2020 starts today and this year will focus on the changes in the law around organ donation in England. In Spring 2020 organ donation law changed to an opt-out system to allow more people to save more lives.
Organ Donation Week is a week-long celebration of organ donation across the UK, and this year’s event is a great opportunity for donor families, transplant patients, the wider NHS and organisations to reinforce the importance of organ donation. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the campaign will be digitally focused, but NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) will be encouraging stakeholders, partners, local campaigners and colleagues from our organ donation community to support the campaign on their online and social channels.
How you can help
NHSBT are asking everyone to:
- Read about what the changes mean for you
- Take time to talk about organ donation this Organ Donation Week
- Make your organ donation decision and share it with those closest to you
