We spoke with Shaun at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske.
Shaun was diagnosed out of the blue with IgA Nephropathy, a rare kidney condition. He concentrated on keeping himself well and received Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis for a few years which meant he was able to continue riding and working on his motorbikes.
Then in 2006 he received a kidney transplant, but there were problems and the kidney failed. He was struggling until he was put onto haemodialysis at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Shaun is now back on his bikes, and he explains how he enjoys going to the unit and how haemodialysis has turned his life around.
