How the Kidney Care UK Wimbledon Sweepstake works
Which tournament can you follow?
You can choose to follow one or more of the men’s, women’s or doubles tournaments. For each of these we use the 32 seed players for the sweepstake. This keeps your participants in the tournament for longer. In the unlikely case that an unseeded player wins the tournament, the winner is the last participant with a player in the tournament (should two or more players exit in the same round, the winner is the participant with the player who has lost the least number of sets throughout the tournament).
Who can play?
Anyone can play. You can run your sweepstake with friends, family, colleagues or any groups or clubs you belong to (just remember to ask permission if you be rounding up players at work or through a group or club).
How many people do you need to play?
There is no minimum or maximum number of participants. It works best if all 32 seed players are taken. You can encourage participants to buy more than one player should you have less than 32 participants. Should you have more than 32 participants, you can run more than one sweepstake.
How to choose an entry fee?
You can simple go for a £2 entry fee, but it is completely up to you. The higher the entry fee, the more you will raise for Kidney Care UK, but you need to consider how many participant you are likely to have. Should you want participants to buy more than one player, you might want to stick to a £2 entry fee.
What can I use as a prize?
This can be anything that has enough gravitas to interest your participants. Our favourites are donated prizes, such as a meal voucher from a local restaurant or a hamper from the local shop. You can also offer a cash prize (that can be taken from the entry fees). If you choose to offer a cash prize, we suggest you split the entry fee with 50% going to the prize pool and the remaining 50% being donated to Kidney Care UK. It might be worth offering a prize for the runner up as well.
How do you 'host' a draw?
The seeds and draw are being announced on 26 June. This gives you four days before the start of the tournament (1 July) to host your draw. Our sweepstake pack makes hosting a draw easy, simply use our Player Cut Out sheet to help you along.
How does the sweepstake support Kidney Care UK?
Simply hosting a sweepstake will help raise awareness. As you talk to those who might be interested in taking part, you can mention that it is in aid of Kidney Care UK. And by asking for an entry fee you are also raising funds that help us improve life for kidney patients. You can find out more about how we support kidney patients in our latest impact report.
