How does the Kidney Care UK Easter Raffle work?
What do I have to do?
Secure, donate or buy a prize/s and then raise awareness and funds by arranging a raffle for these.
What can I use as a raffle item?
This can be anything, but will need to be exciting enough for people to want to buy a raffle ticket. You can use the authorisation letter included in your pack to help you secure a donation from a local business, such as a meal voucher or a round of golf. Or, you might already have items that you would like to donate to be the prize, or buy an Easter egg or bake a cake.
Who can play?
Anyone can play, but please ensure you host your raffle on private property to people you know and not in a public place or to people you do not know. Please ensure you ask the property owner for permission. You can play with family, friends, colleagues, a group or club. If the interest is there, why not run more tan one raffle, i.e. one at work and one with your friends.
How many people are required to play?
There is no minimum or maximum number of players. The more tickets you sell, the more money you will raise to support kidney patients and their families.
When should I 'host' the draw?
We think it works best to promote the event in advance (we will send you a poster as part of your pack) and then sell the raffle tickets on the day you're hosting the draw. The actual date is for you to choose, but we'd recommend a date close to Easter when lots of people are around. Remember, you will need to give yourself time to secure a prize and promote the raffle.
How do I 'host' the draw?
Your pack includes a raffle sheet to make hosting your draw simple. Ask the ticket purchaser to complete their name and contact details on the sheet. Then, when you come to do the draw, use the number to the left of their name to go into the 'hat' leaving the row number as the reference to the ticket owner.
How does the raffle support Kidney Care UK?
Simply hosting a raffle will help raise awareness. As you promote the raffle, you can share why you have chosen to support Kidney Care UK. And, of course, you will be raising funds by selling the tickets. You can find out how your funds support kidney patients in our about us section.
Important legal advice
Whilst arranging a raffle can be easy and fun, we need to ask that you host your raffle on private property to people you know, and not in a public place or to people you do not know. Any raffles taking place in a public space are considered a form of gambling and need a licence from the local authority.
